Nearly 16 million men and women, most in their teens, served our country during World War II. They were ordinary people who became extraordinary heroes after the attack on Pearl Harbor brought America into World War II. They watched comrades die terrible deaths on the beaches and in foxholes, were wounded in body and spirit and bore witness to horrifying inhumanity. They liberated Europe from the Nazi occupation and saved many from the unimaginable in concentration camps. They defeated Japan at great human cost. Then they, the "Greatest Generation", came home, went back to their families, their work and their lives, never seeking any recognition for the freedom and liberty we all enjoy.
Currently we are working to identify all the World War II, Alaska Territorial Guard and Korean War veterans in the State of Alaska. Because of raising families, earning a living or just the passage of time, many of these veterans have never had an opportunity to visit the memorials in Washington D.C. dedicated to their service and sacrifice. We are losing World War II veterans at a rate of 1,000 per day across the United States, so our window of opportunity is quickly diminishing.
The Last Frontier Honor Flight is a non-profit organization dedicated to giving our WWII, Alaska Territorial Guard and Korean War veterans an opportunity they may otherwise never experience, with a trip to view their memorials in Washington D.C., at no cost to them. Each veteran will travel with a Guardian to help ensure they have no difficulty being involved or getting around during the trip. Guardians pay their own way on these trips.
With your generous donation to The Last Frontier Honor Flight, you can help us say "Thank you from our hearts for your sacrifice. You stood for freedom and won."
